Officers from the Nassau County Police Department responded to a call at Advantage Care Physicians on South Broadway in Hicksville at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27, where there was a report of an active fire in the building.

Crews from the Hicksville Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the blaze inside the building, which was not occupied at the time of the fire, police said.

The joint investigation between the Arson Bomb Squad, Crime Scene Unit, and the Fire Marshall determined that he had intentionally started the fire after breaking into the building.

It is alleged that the suspect threw a rock through a window, breaking it, and then threw an incendiary device into the building, which sparked the fire.

In the videos released by police, the suspect can be seen skulking through the employee parking lot with something in his hand before returning shortly thereafter and walking away empty handed.

A second video shows when the fire started, and the suspect walking away from the building.

Investigators described the suspect as a heavyset white man who was wearing a green hooded sweatshirt, dark shorts, and white sneakers at the time of the alleged arson.

The fire remains under investigation. Anyone with information has been asked to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-244-TIPS.
